How the Seasons Shape What's on Tap
Seasonal brewing follows the rhythm of the year as much as the calendar. In the Fraser Valley, that rhythm is easy to feel: damp, grey winters, a long and green spring, warm dry summers and an autumn harvest that fills farm stands across the region. Each of our seasonal styles is chosen to suit the weather and the mood of the moment, and to make the most of what grows nearby.
Why release dates can shift
Beer runs on its own timetable. A lager needs weeks of cold conditioning before it is ready, while a stout may need extra time for its roasted character to settle. Hop harvests, ingredient availability and the results of tasting all affect when a batch is ready to pour. A seasonal beer is released when it tastes right, not just when the date arrives. Seasonal batches are also often brewed in limited volumes, so a favourite can sell out before the season ends.
Making the most of each season
- Winter: Fuller-bodied, warming beers are best served a little less cold than a lager, so the malt and spice notes come through.
- Spring: Hop-forward beers are at their brightest when fresh. Hoppy styles fade with time, so drink them soon rather than cellaring them.
- Summer: Crisp, lighter beers pair well with patio afternoons and grilled food from our food truck partners.
- Autumn: Roasty, darker beers suit cooler evenings and heartier dishes such as stews, smoked meats and chocolate desserts.
Staying in the loop
The most reliable way to catch a seasonal beer is to check what's currently pouring on our beer list and keep an eye on the events page, where release days and pairing nights are announced. If you plan to travel to Aldergrove for a particular release, check the latest updates before you set off. Plan your ride home as well. Aldergrove is easiest to reach by car, so arrange a designated driver or a taxi so everyone can enjoy the visit safely.
